What the comparison shows
Pass rate & failures
How often each car has passed first-time, plus the total number of advisories and failure items recorded.
Mileage trajectory
The last five odometer readings for each vehicle so you can see annual usage and spot any anomalies.
Top recurring faults
The three most common defect components on each car — tyres, brakes, suspension and so on.
Frequently asked questions
How does the side-by-side MOT comparison work?
Enter two UK registration numbers. MOT Checkup fetches both DVSA MOT histories in parallel and renders the key metrics — pass rate, total advisories, failures, mileage trajectory and the top recurring faults — in two columns so you can spot the better-kept vehicle at a glance.
Is comparing two cars free?
Yes. Both the MOT history check and the side-by-side comparison are free. There is no signup, no card and no usage cap. Premium add-ons (finance check, valuation, write-off check) remain optional per vehicle.
What data does the comparison show?
Vehicle summary (make, model, year, fuel, colour), total MOT tests, pass rate, total advisories, total failures, latest test outcome and mileage, mileage trajectory over the last five tests, and the most common recurring failure components for each vehicle.
Can I compare any two UK cars?
Yes — any two UK-registered vehicles with at least one MOT on the DVSA record (so generally cars over 3 years old). Newer cars exempt from MOT will show no test data.
