Audi's own service record

Audi sits on the same Volkswagen Group Digital Service Schedule as Volkswagen, Škoda and SEAT. Audi's own erWin portal confirms the system and who writes to it: "Registered erWin users can enter information in the system for vehicles that have a digital service schedule." That matters, because it means a properly equipped independent specialist can be inside the record rather than outside it.

How to actually get it

1. Ask any Audi Centre to print the Digital Service Schedule against the VIN.
2. If the car has been looked after by an independent Audi specialist, ask whether they are erWin-registered. If they are, their work should be on the same record; if they are not, you need their invoices.
3. Audi UK routes vehicle-specific questions through the Centre network rather than head office, so start with a Centre, not the switchboard.

Fixed or Flexible changes what a 'full history' should look like

Volkswagen Group cars run on one of two servicing regimes, and Volkswagen's own FAQ describes both: a Flexible schedule, where "the service light on the instrument panel will illuminate when it's time to get a service", and a Fixed schedule that is "typically be around every 12 months or 10,000 miles, whichever comes first". A low-mileage Flexible car can legitimately show longer gaps than a Fixed one. Before you judge a gap, find out which regime the car was set to — and remember that neither regime covers the cambelt or brake fluid, which are separate items with their own intervals.

What the MOT trail shows about a Audi

This is not a service history and cannot be turned into one — the MOT record says nothing about oil changes, cambelts or brake fluid. What it is, is the one independent record of the car’s life that the seller has never been able to touch. Two things in it are real evidence about maintenance: the mileage the invoices have to agree with, and what testers keep writing up.

The mileage spread is the number to take to a viewing. Half of all Audi vehicles in our data average between 6,045 and 10,188 miles a year across their whole life. A car well outside that band is not automatically suspect — but it should match the story the seller and the invoices tell, and a service book whose intervals imply a very different annual mileage from the odometer is the discrepancy you came to find.

Read that list as a checklist rather than a verdict. Every item on it is something a service should have caught before a tester saw it, so when you look at a specific Audi’s MOT history, the question is not whether these appear — they appear on most cars — but whether they appear and then stop. An advisory that is written up at three consecutive tests is a fault the owner was told about three times and left alone, and it is telling you more about how the car was looked after than the folder is.

Across all 31 makes we cover, 53.3% of latest tests logged at least one item, so treat Audi's 49.3% as a brand-level comparison and nothing more. It says nothing about the particular car you are looking at, and brands whose fleets are younger and less heavily used will read lower for reasons that have nothing to do with servicing.
