Fiat service history: who holds the record

By Bertram Sargla, Founder, MOT CheckupLast updated: August 2026Data sourced from DVSA

The short answer

No site can look up a Fiat service history from a registration, because the UK has no servicing database to look it up in. We do not hold or sell service records. Fiat publishes no named digital service record on its own UK site, so the working route is a dealer look-up against the VIN — details below. Then cross-check it against the free DVSA MOT trail, which we do hold and which is on this page.

Fiat is Stellantis, but on the old FCA side rather than the old PSA side, and it does not use the Peugeot/Citroën/Vauxhall Digital Service Record. Fiat UK routes owners to the FIAT app and the My Uconnect portal instead. We could not verify from Fiat's own pages which models and years are actually covered, or how far the history reaches.

FIAT app / My Uconnect. Fiat's connected-services pages route owners here; the depth of service history shown is not documented.

How to actually get it

  1. Ask a Fiat dealer to look up the VIN — on this brand that is the route we can stand behind.
  2. Ask the seller whether the car is registered in the FIAT app and, if so, what the service section shows.
  3. Assume the paper file matters. Fiat publishes less about its service records than almost any brand here.

Fiat UK — contact. Check it on Fiat’s own site before you dial — published contact routes change, and this was last checked in August 2026.

What we could not verify

A row of sites will tell you all of this with total confidence. We checked Fiat's own published material and could not, so here is the list rather than a plausible guess. If one of these matters to your purchase, it is a question to put to the dealer directly.

  • Whether Fiat operates a named digital service record for UK cars, and from when.
  • Which models and model years the FIAT app covers for service history.
  • Whether independent-garage work is recorded anywhere.
  • Any fee.

What the MOT trail shows about a Fiat

This is not a service history and cannot be turned into one — the MOT record says nothing about oil changes, cambelts or brake fluid. What it is, is the one independent record of the car’s life that the seller has never been able to touch. Two things in it are real evidence about maintenance: the mileage the invoices have to agree with, and what testers keep writing up.

233,212

Fiat vehicles in our DVSA MOT data with a test in the active window

56.9%

had at least one defect or advisory at their latest test — close to the 31-make average of 53.3%

5,200

median miles a year over the car’s life — 1,901 below the 31-make median of 7,101

The mileage spread is the number to take to a viewing. Half of all Fiat vehicles in our data average between 3,493 and 7,129 miles a year across their whole life. A car well outside that band is not automatically suspect — but it should match the story the seller and the invoices tell, and a service book whose intervals imply a very different annual mileage from the odometer is the discrepancy you came to find.

Source: MOT Checkup analysis of DVSA MOT history records — advisories recorded at the most recent test of 233,212 Fiat vehicles, active window to 2026-04-12. Counts structured DVSA reason-for-rejection items only; free-text tester notes are excluded because they do not aggregate. Position words such as “nearside front” are stripped so the same defect groups as one item. Contains public sector information obtained under our DVSA-approved MOT History API key; DVSA publishes no data licence for that product.

Read that list as a checklist rather than a verdict. Every item on it is something a service should have caught before a tester saw it, so when you look at a specific Fiat’s MOT history, the question is not whether these appear — they appear on most cars — but whether they appear and then stop. An advisory that is written up at three consecutive tests is a fault the owner was told about three times and left alone, and it is telling you more about how the car was looked after than the folder is.

Across all 31 makes we cover, 53.3% of latest tests logged at least one item, so treat Fiat's 56.9% as a brand-level comparison and nothing more. It says nothing about the particular car you are looking at, and brands whose fleets are younger and less heavily used will read lower for reasons that have nothing to do with servicing. For the individual car, run its registration.

Checked in August 2026. Manufacturer arrangements change; if you find something here is out of date, the sources above are the primary record and they win.

If a car still has finance on it, the lender can repossess it from you — and you lose both the car and the money.

Fiat service history — common questions

Can I check a Fiat service history by registration?
No. There is no UK database of vehicle servicing, so no site can return a Fiat's service history from its number plate — ours included. We do not hold or sell service records. Fiat publishes no named digital service record, so the route is a dealer look-up against the VIN. What is free and instant is the DVSA MOT history, which shows every test, mileage reading, defect and advisory.
Who holds the service records for a used Fiat?
Fiat is Stellantis, but on the old FCA side rather than the old PSA side, and it does not use the Peugeot/Citroën/Vauxhall Digital Service Record. Fiat UK routes owners to the FIAT app and the My Uconnect portal instead. We could not verify from Fiat's own pages which models and years are actually covered, or how far the history reaches. Anything done outside that network sits with the garage that did it, on its own invoices — so a complete history is assembled from both.
Can a Fiat owner see the service history themselves?
FIAT app / My Uconnect: Fiat's connected-services pages route owners here; the depth of service history shown is not documented. That is worth knowing before a viewing, because it means you can ask the seller to open it in front of you rather than take their word for it.
Does the MOT history prove a Fiat was serviced?
No. The MOT record contains no servicing data at all. What it does give you for a Fiat is an independent mileage trail every invoice has to sit on, and an advisory pattern showing whether faults were fixed or carried. Across our data, 56.9% of Fiat cars had at least one defect or advisory recorded at their most recent test, close to the 31-make average of 53.3%.
What mileage is normal for a Fiat?
Over 213,925 Fiat vehicles in our DVSA MOT data, the middle half average between 3,493 and 7,129 miles a year across their whole life, with a median of 5,200. That is lifetime average annual mileage, not distance in the last year — use it to sanity-check whether the odometer and the service intervals in the folder tell the same story.
Does servicing a Fiat at an independent garage cause problems?
Not legally. The Competition Act 1998 (Motor Vehicle Agreements Block Exemption) Order 2023, in force from 1 June 2023, preserves independent repairers' access to technical information, tools and parts. The practical issue is documentation: independent work may not appear in the manufacturer's record, so the invoices become the only evidence it happened. Keep them.
